Description
Normal, also referred to as wild type, is the most common morph of the western hognose snake. This morph displays a wide variation in colouration, including brown-yellow, brown-green and brown-red tones. The belly is typically black or black with brown, yellow or occasionally orange markings. The pattern usually consists of larger dorsal blotches with smaller lateral markings along the sides. Individual specimens can vary considerably in contrast and colour intensity. This morph forms the foundation for many combinations within the hobby and is regularly used in breeding projects involving western hognose snakes.
