The Maitai Anaconda is a unique variation of the Western Hognose Snake (Heterodon nasicus). Thanks to its distinctive appearance and active character, this species has remained one of the most popular snakes in the hobby. Description
Maitai Anaconda is a combination of the recessive sable mutation, the recessive toffeebelly mutation and the heterozygous incomplete dominant anaconda mutation. This combination generally displays an orange to brown colouration, with older specimens often becoming darker and browner over time. Various specimens also show visible green hues within the background colour and parts of the pattern. The anaconda mutation removes part of the dorsal pattern, allowing more of the background colour to remain visible. The sable mutation increases darker pigmentation, while the toffeebelly mutation contributes warmer tones. Colour intensity and visible hues may vary between individual specimens.
