The Albino Arctic is a unique variation of the Western Hognose Snake (Heterodon nasicus). Thanks to its distinctive appearance and active character, this species has remained one of the most popular snakes in the hobby. Description
Albino Arctic is a combination of the recessive amelanistic Albino mutation and the heterozygous incomplete dominant Arctic mutation. Due to the absence of melanin, this combination develops red, orange and yellow tones together with red eyes. The Arctic mutation affects the contrast of the pattern and is recognised by the light outlining around the saddles and the visible eyebrow markings. Around the pattern, a darker pigment concentration is often visible, causing the saddles to appear more defined. The background colour is usually lighter compared to a regular Albino. Some specimens display yellow-green tones within the pattern. Contrast and colour intensity may vary between specimens.
